The conference will take place at the University of Bergen on 31 October – 1 November 2019. It is a collaboration between Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and University of Bergen. All papers are presented by invited speakers. If you want to participate and take part in the discussions following the papers, please register before 15 October.
This conference is the latest in a row of conferences known as the Aarhus mythology conference, because it was established in Aarhus in 2006-2008. Since then, it has travelled to Aberdeen (2009), Reykjavík (2010), Zürich (2011), Bonn (2012), Harvard (2013), Aarhus (2014), Stockholm (2015), Berkeley (2016), Helsinki (2017) and Uppsala (2018). The Aarhus mythology conference is the largest international conference on Old Norse mythology and religion.
The conference is sponsored by Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, University of Bergen’s Medieval Research Cluster, and the Royal Gustavus Adolphus Academy for Swedish Folk Culture.
